can we say wet wet wet and a bit of wind as well i hav'nt managed
to get out and play this week because of the weather but I have managed
to get up the range 3 times. Just to keep me swinging and to
be honest im hitting it well, lets hope its the same when i do get
back on the course which will be next sat for our monthly medal. Fingers
crossed. This sat just gone i caddyed for my son Tom in the East Sussex
pav 36 holes of freezeing cold wet and wind swept but do enjoy doing it for
him. Unfortunetly Boars Head couldn't over come Rustington but fingers crossed

Where to start
Well with my knee I supose. The good news is it seems to be getting better, but im still
getting some pain but not as I did have so just a case of a pain killer now and again.
Back to see the specialist in a month or so to see were we go next.
Well yesterday sat 21st was the start of our 9 hole league games I really look foward
to this every year and try and get my name down for it .Its allways a good crack, this
month we played away to newcomers Hever Golf club in Kent on their Princes
course. I had never played this one but have played the other course they have there.
If your ever down or arond that way I would recomend it. Our captain
Mick Grombrige had picked a strong side I was out with Andy Manktelow which was
great for me, you can have a right laugh with him. We were 2nd out so we shook hands
with our openents and off we went. A par 4 to start with we win this hole with me getting a
par. 2nd is a par 4 as well Andy pars this but we only manage a half on here as they get a
shot. Next hole is a par 3 over water very tight but what a lovely looking hole 165 yards,
off the whites, wind blowing left to right so i choke down on my seven wood it lands not far
from the pin. Im well happy so is Andy cos he had duffed his shot so we won this hole as
well. We are dove tailing really well as Andy halfs the next hole. As we are coming down
the 5th all their is down the left hand side is water then Andy informs me thats the next
hole a par 3 184 yards all over water stroke index 1 but what a loveley looking hole so
our two openents lay up, Andy goes for it, duffs it, I step up wackit it lands right edge of the green well
happy, but we still end up halfing it.Anyway at the turn we are 3 up we played the front 9
really well we got ourselfs a cup of coffee and then it seemed to go down hill for us but we
were still playing really well but they had just got better. At the end of match we had lost our
game 3-1 they played out of their skins back 9 well done lads end of the day we had lost 4 of
our matches and won 1 not a good start to to the league but plenty more matches to go
well do better next time Mick.
Nearly at an end now but just like to say a big well done to Mr Ian Halliwell our TSG captain
on the Golf Channel Tour out in Florida at the moment with a 3rd and 2nnd out their keep it
going mate your playing well ow and Happy Birthday for the 28TH i think it is if not i do
apologise but i know its round that time good luck mate

Well the knee is getting better, still getting pain but not as much thank god. Have been
going up the range and doing a bit of work up there. Been out a couple of times and played
as well. Didn't do to well with my new driver a Taloyormade Burner found I couldn't get on
with it so back to the old one for the time being. Enough golf for a min so the wife comes
home a while ago and says Rog she only calls me that when she wants something lol
Rog she says again so I sais yes hun what you want she says we are doing a project at
school about the olympics and para;olympics would I do a talk for the kids. So i said yes but
it would be better if the kids asked the questions and thats what they did.It was lovely to do
the questions they asked were brilliant they wanted to k now everything it was a pleasure to do.
Well back to the golf I played in a Disabled Golf Socitey day at Mardyke Valley Golf Club in
Essex and can I say what a lovely course it is and recormend it to anyone, We had a lovely
threeball my sonTom and a new face to me Mark Walters from Folkstone smashing bloke Mark
struggled the front 9 and only had 9 points Tom 19 and me 17 so onto the back nine Mark changed
his ball and it was a totally different Mark par on the tenth and finised on the 18th with 19 points
to finish with 28. Well done Mark. Good back 9 Tom had 17 +19= 36 well done Tom and me 18+17=35
so at the end of the day Tom came 1st but as it was a disabled event the result was
1st Roger Hurcombe 35pts on count back
2nd Keith Dolman 35pts
3rd Mark Walters 28pts
But a big well done to everybody that was there today top golf. Well thats me about done now so
hope your not to bored. just one last thing im on twitter now if you fancy following me on there as well
@peglegrog64

Hi Everbody
Firstly apologies for taking
so long to get this blog out well. Id like to say a big
thank you to all the well wishies before i went in to hospital. It was a bit touch
and go as to whether I was going in or not had a phone call on the wednesday to say they
might not have a bed for me. We will ring you in the morning oh well ok thanks about
8 o clock the phone rings sorry Mr Hurcombe we still dont know if we can get you in there
has been a nasty accident we will ring you back in an hour. Great i thought I wont be going
in. Half nine phone rings are Mr Hurcombe would you like to come down thank god for that
so off we go. On the way down we see the remains of the accident earlier it was nasty.
Had surgeon come and see me and explain what he was going to do and
put an arrow on my leg so they dont get the wrong one which is a joke when you only
have one.So down we go wake up about half four they take me up to a ward but all i want
to do is go home after a while and very reluctentley they let me go. Iwent back and saw the
surgeon after a week he told me what he had done and not what i was hoping not good news
really my knee is really knackered and im still getting a lot of pain and wont see the surgeon
for three months will keep you informed well now on to the golf if your not bored.
Well Id been able to get a couple of games in before we headed off to Five Lakes in Essex
where I had been asked to captain the Europen team. So on the sunday me and my vice
captain Brendon set off we travelled up together as we dont live that far from each other.
After a couple of hours we were there not to far for us.
Its was great to see friends and the banter is already starting so we grab a coffie and wait
for the rest. Well now we are putting the teams in the four ball we had was great four ball as if it
was the four of us on our own me Brendon; Andy Gardiner and our good mate Tony Lloyd.
Me and Tony had our usual bet, a fiver which i can gladly say I took the honours this time
cheers Tony. But give the old boy his dew he had the shot of the day on the 10th a par three were
he put it to within a foot of the flag knocks in his birdy for four points. Well done mate . What
could I say about the course not a lot, I think it was not in good condition the fairways were bad
the greens were bad. I hoped the course for the next day was not that bad. Couldnt even
say the food was good because it wasn't. Standings for day one were
England
Europe
Wales
Day two im in the last group another great four ball Ben ; Dave and Neil. All four of us struggeled
on the first hole we all blobed good start, and yes my worst fears this course was not a lot better. The
greens where a little better but not a lot so the final standings were
England
Europe
Wales
Well done England and a big big thank you to my team Europe guys but a well done to everyone
and great to see you all and see you all again soon
Well hope you havnt been to bored
Happy golfing PegLegRog
P.S all the best to my good friend and TSG captine Mr Ian Halliwell who is of to play in some
comps in America good luck mate and keep us informed
